hello, i'm brand new, although i've been lurking around this site for a few weeks. lobes were pierced when i was about 6 weeks old, however, i haven't worn any earrings in the lobes for about 8 years. holes are still open though - i checked this week.

thing is, i checked to make sure they were open with a regular earring - and after i took the earring out, my lobes felt stretched, and still kinda do a few two days later. i think i'm smaller than a 20g - perhaps 22g.

1. everywhere i look, i see 14g tapers, and i'm not even there, so how do i go about even starting?

2. also, i have extremely sensitive skin. even when i was young and wearing earrings, i had to wear surgical steel earrings. anything non-surgical would make my ear holes start to pus within the day. i wonder if i would only be able to wear surgical steel plugs, or if i could wear organics like wood. how does glass do in really sensitive skin? i may reconsider stretching if i won't be able to wear any organic or glass plugs. i don't like the metal look.

U must stretch with the steel, then after a week or when u feel like it is healed, u can switch to organics. Glass is also very good to stretch with and wear.

Glass is quite an excellent choice for those with allergies, from what I've heard and read.

thanks for the quick responses. i went over to BAF an ordered 18g tapers and earrings as well as some 16g tapers and earrings. i'm thinking that should keep me busy for two months.

i'm determined to take this process slow.
