Surgical steel, glass or titanium are best :) I prefer glass by far.

Some people (like me) can stretch with acrylic though, I can wear acrylic plugs too in a fresh stretched hole. But silicone is really not done in a fresh stretch, because your ear can heal with the piercing, and that would be very painfull (:

I really don't believe it is a question of "some people can wear acrylic in a fresh stretch", it is a matter of acrylic being at high risk of causing infection, due to its pourous surface which provides an ideal place for bacteria.

I stretched with acrylic at 1G, but there were no open wounds so there was no risk for infection. But that stretch for me wasn't even really a stretch because I'd been at 2G for so long so that might be a bad example. I guess it depends on how responsible you're being with the stretching. If your lobes are sore at all don't put acrylic in them.
Anyway, glass, titanium, and surgical steel are ideal. I've always preferred glass.

Ok that helps a lot! Thanks and one mire question while I'm here I kinda looked around but couldn't find anything on it... I got my ears pierced 5 months ago and have been following the month between small stretches and I'm in an 8g now... How long can I keep my plugs out without downsizing or the hole closing up? Thanks
