Dear Users,
I am 17 and have been stretching my ears for a little over a year now. My current size is 1 1/4 and I do not plan on going bigger,but I have had a rocky journey to get it. I stretched faster than I should have at the start and in doing so, thinned my earlobes more than usual. I stayed at the size of one inch for a couple months and treated my ears but have recently been tapeing my ears to my current size.Altho The stretching went unexpectedly well with no cuts or blow-outs, my old thin spots in my lobes are being streched to there limits. I can say my ears are pretty clear of scars but because of my most recent stretch, the thin spots of my ears are tight on the earring and scare me to death of splitting. I had no pain or bleeding in the past couple of months of stretching and they do not show signs of splitting, But I know I have put my ears through more than they should have ever taken. Point being I was wondering if anyone knew of signs before had of ears splitting or know any methods other than Store-bought creams to help insure my ears stay in place,

do you use vitamin E oil? that should help thicken your lobes a little bit and strenghten them.
Maybe you should downsize so you have less chance for an earsplit,

Downsizing and restretching, and vit e /jojoba oil massages can really help thicken lobes up.

I mean you should be able to tell if they're dangerously thin. Obviousy thin looking, and normally a funny colour because they don't have enough circulation too.
Do you have a picture?

If you're not stretching further, and you stick to light-ish jewellery (nothing solid, though eyelets might have more of a chance of being snagged) and avoid fights (and frostbite), its not likely to suddenly split without provocation.

I second everything said above me. Downsize a few sizes and do oil massages, sleep with naked lobes if you have to.

I've seen a lot of photos of people's lobes thinning before they split, and one thing I've noticed is the "thinning" area starts to get.... I guess a little transparent/whitish, and it doesn't look like the normal colour of flesh.

As for the suggestion of light jewellery, kaos earskins would probably be really good to wear as they fit your ear snugly and are light, thin silicone.
