size discrepancy

kind of a dumb question haha
So I'm at a 0g (from what i understand is 8mm) right now and going to 00g soon. Some places are telling me that 00g is 10mm. Others 9.5 and between...some even less then 9.5. So just out of curiosity what is the standard, correct size for 00?
Also, I've not heard a lot of people talking about 000g...which they sell a lot of here, which is about 10.4mm -10.5mm I think. So I had thought that going from 00g to 7/16 wouldn't be a bad idea....but I'm really not a fan of the larger stretches, I like to go slow 1mm at a time is preferred.
so if 00g is 10mm I'd go to 7/16 or 11....but if 00g is closer to 9.5 then i'll take the step between - 000g.
Probably just dependent on the gauge....?

as far as i am aware, 0g is 8.2 mm, 00g is 10.4 mm, and 000g (which is the same as 7/16ths, btw) is 11.1mm.
i think these can vary considerably though, so it is best to go with the size in mm, if possible.

There are a few gauges where noone can make up their mind what size it is. Varies on manufacturer.
2g - 6/6.5mm
00g - 9/9.5/10mm
1/2" - 12/12.7/13mm
I'm at 1" now, which can be anywhere from 25-26mm and a little either side. My ears are stretchy enough to cope with the change though
And organics and some glass can vary from that anyway.
If in doubt, just use millimetres

regarding the 000g and 7/16...thats what i first thought but the most recent chart i looked at said
0g - 8mm
00g - 10mm
000g - 10.4mm
7/16 - 11mm
so i got a little more then confused l:
ps. thanks for the replies!

If I was going to stretch that big I'd start ordering from a site that uses millimeters, honestly. 'Cause gauge measurements vary so much and it's really not safe to stretch that much at one time. Like the jump between 2G and 0G; that's way too much at that small of a size. But if I were you I'd just go 1mm at a time.

It is frustrating. But by the time I was able to put in my 1/2" with MASSIVE double flares, my ears were stretchy enough to stretch back up/down/whatever. And kindly cooperated

After doing the 2-0 stretch.....ugh, yeah I'm definitely not doing that again.

A true 00g is 9.266mm, a true 000g is 10.404mm, or just under 7/16".
Most 00g jewelry is actually somewhere between 9mm and 10mm rather than being a true 00g. It's not a bad idea to just switch to stretching by mm where you are now, to make sure you're getting an exact size.
