Bio-oil and olive oil?
I've heard a few people say bio oil & olive oils are just as good as jojoba and vitamin E oils?? Is it okay to use these to massage my ear, as i already have these in my house but not jojoba or vitamin E.?

Re: Bio-oil and olive oil?
Olive oil doesn't have the scar reducing-ness of vit e (that jojoba has in it)
But massaging will do a bit of good whatever you use.
I've been running low on jojoba oil for a while, so I cut it with olive oil. Works fine for me.
As for bio-oil, its expensive
But I don't see why you couldn't use it on ears too. As long as they're healed

EMU OIL IS TEH SHYT.
hands down, emu oil beats anything.. i had flat tires (blowouts) a long time ago at 3/4 and massaged every day for 2 weeks and they were no longer!

Like any oil would do... seriously, massaging do 9/10 of the job, the oil type is not really important.

Re: Bio-oil and olive oil?
I agree with James. I have owned a tattoo studio for 14 years and we recommend emu oil for all piercing, gauging, and tattoos. All oils are NOT the same. Olive Oil and bio-oil are good for moisturizing, but don't do anything else. Emu oil has natural anti-inflamatory properties and also helps prevent infection with natural anti-bacterial properties. It is also high in essential fatty acids, which repair damaged skin cells. Emu oil penetrates deeper than any other kind of oil, so the skin ends up healing from the inside out, which is best for reducing inflammation and scarring. The emu oil product we use is called Ink Slinger Aftercare. I would send you a sample, but we don't ship internationally (I am in the States). You could probably order it from the same pace we do, which is lbemuoil.com
I don't mean for this to sound like an advertisement, but we highly recommend emu oil for everything we do in our studio. It is head and shoulders above olive oil for tats and piercing.

Re: Bio-oil and olive oil?
I gotta say I agree too. While the important thing is to massage and the type of oil is secondary to just making the massaging happen, emu oil really is awesome. I suppose it makes sense, seeing as how it's basically bird fat, full of things my skin must want. I've used just about everything one could try, and any oil can help make a massage easier, but emu oil is the one thing that absorbs fast, never clogs pores, and makes my ears feel better if they're angry about something. Vitamin E and jojoba are my cheaper choices for everyday massaging, but for serious care I will spend the money on that sweet emu goo.
So yeah, massaging with olive oil would be better than just dabbing on some emu oil and not massaging. But if you get a chance, buy some emu oil just to see how you like it. If you're still stretching or trying to get rid of scar tissue, I think you'll really see a difference.
