I HATE MY RIGHT EAR!

Okay, now that I got my frustration out of the way there lol, I just popped in my 8g taper followed by my 8g plug into my left lobe. It went in like "Hmm, this is a little bigger than what I'm used to but whatever." Then I try to do the same thing with my right ear and he's all like "NOOOOOO!!! I HATE YOU!!! DON'T PUT THAT IN ME!!!" So I'm like "Fine, be that way. Back to a 10 for you."

Should I just leave them the way they are and sit tight with an 8g in one ear and a 10g in the other? Or just go back to 10 g on my left too and just have them be symmetrical for the time being?

Haha I like the way you worded this.
But most people do have a stubborn ear. How long had you been at 10G? If you don't mind being uneven I'd go ahead and keep the one 8G stretch, then leave the other at 10G 'til it's ready. Oil massages will probably help it become more stretchy, too.

if you can get the taper in there then leave it in for a day or so

that will allow your lobes some time to stretch a bit more before the plug is there

I wouldn't recommend that, they're too easily caught and can damage your ear.
