My earlobes are very small and attatched to begin with, and I've stretched my right earlobe to 10mm (I can't stretch the other due to the idiots at Claires piercing it too low, and I now regret not waiting til I was older to have my first holes done so I could discourage my mum from taking me there >.< but that's another story)
My stretched ear isn't TOO thin, and I've seen a lot thinner, but it certainly isn't as thick as I'd like it to be.
At what point of thinness would you suggest stopping stretching and staying at that size? Or would alternative methods (such as taping) be better as they don't cause your ears as much stress as a taper would?

You can downsize and stay there for awhile and then stretch back up. I have heard that it helps thicken your lobes but have no personal experience in doing so myself. Doing oil massages everyday on healed stretches also helps to thicken your lobes and keeps them healthy. Massaging promotes blood flow to the ears which promotes tissue growth. Taking your jewlery out for a couple of hours a day also helps to promote blood flow and tissue growth. Also you should read around the forum there is alot of really good info on this and some ppl may provide better info on this.
P.S. my right was pierced a little lower than my left and they both sit a 0g right now, I only notice it when I wear jewlery that the front facing is bigger than the actual part in my holes, I plan to go to 7/16ths, I plan to saty a 0g til may/june to help my ears thicken and such.
Happy Stretching

Trouble is, I've always wanted to go to 16mm, purely because I think that size looks really good, but I just don't have the perfectly fat fleshy lobes that are ideal when you want to stretch >.< my boyfriend on the other hand has nice earlobes that are perfect for stretching, but he only wants to go to 10mm -.- I wish we could just swap ears or something.
Should I go to a body piercing place and ask them if it's safe for me to go up at least one more size? Trouble is I've heard they tend to give bad advice about stretching sometimes =/

I don't have a camera, otherwise I would ><
Errrm, if I wear jewellery with O-rings there's about 2mm of earlobe still on show at the bottom? Sorry if that's not helpful at all.

Re: How thin is too thin?
Huh... My lobes are actually thicker now than they were when I had them pierced and I have 5mm between the edge of the flare and the bottom of the lobe with an 8mm flare on my 2g tunnels. I don't think my lobes are crazy thick, but I definitely don't have any fear they are thinning. Half a centimeter showing seems pretty reasonable to me.kaitlynndt wrote:I just went and measured at my work haha! I have about 5 mm of lobe left with flat flares in, should be about the same with O rings, I felt like that was getting pretty thin, but like I said be careful but it's all up to you.
