Clear puss?

I have my ears at about 5/8" right now. And my problem is that i have a job where i am not allowed to wear my plugs, or clear, or skin colored plugs. So i have to take them out for 8 hours a day (with a scattered 1/2 hr lunch, and two 15minute breaks that i am allowed to wear them). Sometimes they get irritated, and also leak clear puss, i clean my ears, and plugs every morning in the shower, and leave them out for a few minutes after my shower to dry before putting them back in. i wear the thicker version of the silicone type tunnels. please help with either a way to keep them healthy, or anything else that can help me!

Re: Clear puss?

If you have to take your plugs out during work hours, I would avoid putting them in for the three breaks you have during the day, simply because you are going to irritate the skin more than you are going to help it.

The "clear puss" sounds like lymph. It means your body is trying to heal an irritated area on your skin. It's much like if you have a scrape that gets a little weepy, but never bleeds. Be careful if you see this happening. It could lead to an infection.

If your work won't allow plugs, apparently they prefer a hole. Maybe you can get some clear earskins. Once they are in, it just looks like you have a perfectly round hole in your lobe.

Seriously, though, it will help to maintain your stretch and you won't have the urge to pop it in and take it out throughout the day. Keep in mind, earskins are also silicone so, they have the same pitfalls as other silicone products if not tended to carefully.

Either way, using silicone can dry out your ears and may irritate them, especially if you are sensitive to it. Make sure to lube up your ears before you put your plugs in so they don't rub the fistula, and keep your ears nice and moisturized. I massage mine with a gentle, fragrance, dye and allergen free lotion every morning right after I get out of the shower.

Hope this helps. : )

That actually makes perfect sense, but as i said they dont let me wear any clear or SKIN COLORED plugs or tunnels, they check before my shift. i guess they would rather have a saggy gross ear lobe then a clean looking hole, or a covered up hole. Bahha. But thanks for your help!!

Wow, it sounds like your work is a little behind the times regarding personal expression and what have you. That's unfortunate.

When I started getting pierced and tattooed, I made a conscious decision to add forward-thinking regarding modifications to my job criteria. If I were to find a job that felt like a good fit, but they turned around and said "but you can't have modifications," I would have to think long and hard before I decided to take the job.

I feel incredibly lucky to work with a great team right now. They respect me and my decisions regarding my modifications. My septum freaks them out a bit, but I do have an office job, so it's expected. I turn my piercing up if I have a retainer in, or I wear a no-flare tunnel while I'm at work.

I respect their wishes regarding a conservative look, but I haven't had anything but positive feedback about my ears. Mind you, they're small, currently, but I was at a 4g before a horn plug cut my lobe and I downsized. I got no complaints. One of the guys in a different department was at 0g and he wore clean, conservative jewelry. It looked really good. He decided to downsize, otherwise he'd still be wearing his steel tunnels.

Anyway, I'm rambling. The long and short of my post is, perhaps there is a better place for you where the people will respect your personal choices and appreciate your expression. The jobs are out there, even in the corporate world. : )
