i think my piercing is a little too low down, is that going to affect the stretching?

Probably not, unless you're planning on going huuuge. Just take your time and be careful with the stretching process so your lobe doesn't thin out too much.

i only say cos i have small attatched lobes, but the largest i plan on going is 1/2'' and that would be tops. im in no rush, but if it would be a problem i'd rather take the piercing out and get it redone,

If yours are a little low, you might be fine with very slow and patient stretching that prevents any weak spots in the bottom of the lobe (which is naturally weaker anyway) that will contribute to thinning.
If your ears are extremely low, it might be better to let them heal and get them repierced, or talk to a body mod professional about getting them scalpeled to correct placement. That's a more risky and permanent procedure, so you want someone experienced, but it's the fastest way to get your piercing larger and centered.
Also, this might not matter to you, but with attached lobes I think you see a change in the outer shape of your ear sooner than with unattached lobes. I stopped at 0g mostly because I don't want the shape of my ear to change. I could get to 1/2" if I was patient enough, but I feel anything larger would make my small, attached lobes look kind of bulged-out and turgid. With dangly lobes, you can go larger and still have a smooth silhouette to your ear.
