I got my ears pierced at the smallest gauge size yesterday. The guy told me how to clean them, but he also said I should clean the actual jewelry. How can I do that? It seems if I tried my ear would close up once I take it out. Any help is appreciated

To clean them soak your ear in water with non iodized sea salt for 5-10 minutes twice a day. Use 1/4 teaspoon of salt for every cup. I wouldn't take out the jewelry for at least 3 weeks. I have had my ears pierced for 4 weeks now and I changed out my studs for barbells a few days ago, and they are a bit sore from doing that, but they are fine other than that.

And make sure the water is hot, but not so hot that it hurts.

Well sisne you have them pierced instead of stretched then I think it's best that you don't take them out, I agree with Zerousteve that it would be best to wait 3 weeks. Sea salts do work great thats what I use to clean my ears every day, and also massaging in Vitamin E oil works great as well. I just started stretching my ears and kinda had some complications but after using the vitamin E oil and now my ears are fine and healing great. Make sure you clean both the back and front of your ear. And Also (with clean hands) turn the jewlery threw out the day to prevent the jewlery from gluing to your ear and it getting stuck. Good luck

Yep, do some sea salt soaks. The heat will help draw out lymph and other nasty stuff from the entire piercing so there's no need to remove the jewelry. Taking the jewelry out would only irritate the new piercing anyway.
