Dead stretching....

Hi all,

I have been Dead stretching from a girly size 1.2 to a 2.5mm and taking it real slow when guiding the plugs in. At what size should I stop Dead stretching?
I want to stretch to a massive 6mm hahaha I know SMALL!

Not really too keen on those tapers but if need be I shall :D

Many thanks......Jingle Bells.

Re: Dead stretching....

First off you shouldnt be dead streching thats a no brainer but your keeping it small so it wont give you any troubles in terms of possibilities for size. cause if you dead strech you get scar tissue and that gets in the way when streching in bigger sizes and you could rip your ear if you strech too far, tapers are the way to go, im not a fan of em and id like to dead strech but im getting tapers when i go further for safety.

Re: Dead stretching....

There's nothing wrong with dead stretching at all, if you wait long enough. In fact, most of the older stretchers prefer dead stretching, as it usually forces you to wait many many months before stretching. I dead stretched my right ear from 8-6 because I had waited 8 months from the time I was pierced at 8g to do my first stretch. So, nothing at all wrong with dead stretching given that you wait PLENTY long enough that the weight of the jewelry and you have been tugging and pulling at the jewelry long enough that you are basically already at the next size. Again, this usually takes MUCH longer than using a taper, because you are basically letting your ear stretch itself.

Re: Dead stretching....

Hi

Thank you for the replies.
I have been leaving about four weeks between stretches. The only bitch of a stretch.....I know  ......was the 1.6mm and from then on the others have been so easy.
I will be leaving my 2.5 in til the end of April that would be about 7 weeks minimum. I'm not as knowledgeable as most on here but I do listen to what my body tells me....in this field their is no such thing as "no pain no gain"

Keep your opinions comming in as I would like to read others and see how others have done stretchings.

Many thanks Jingle Belllllllllssssssss :D

Re: Dead stretching....

I dead stretched for the first time from 2g to 1g, all my previous stretches had been using tapers.
Dead stretching was the easiest stretch I've ever done, I always hated using tapers.

Re: Dead stretching....

Strickycub....what difference did you feel with dead stretching to tapering?

My dislike for Tapers is from what I have watched and read about them...there is more material to travel through the lobe thus inflicting more trauma to the area.
Dead Stretching, from my own experience.... there is less material to travel through and only one piece.

I'm still out on what is the best way to stretch my lobe.....

Thanks for the imput.

Re: Dead stretching....

While it is true you've got more going through your ear only a small part of it is actually the next size up. Probably about 90% of it is smaller or the same size as whatever size you're stretching from, so I don't see why that would really matter. Also, you're not meant to leave them in, but just use them as a tool to open the hole to the next size so you can feed a plug in after.
The sound of gun fire so loud and rapid, but it seems to be so quiet around me, and out of nowhere I feel peace cover me. I reach down and reload my ticket home. The taste of cold steel on my lips, and a second later silence fills the January air...

Well I had absolutely no discomfort whatsoever, compared to when I had used tapers.
When I used tapers to stretch, it always felt like they would be trying pull the insides out of my ear by stretching it over the taper, and it always felt really uncomfortable. Usually got a sensation of "pinching" and just overall the tapers always made me feel like I was forcing my ear to stretch (even though it was ready).
Also there was this one time where I had to leave the tapers in overnight after stretching, because I was having trouble following it through with the plug, and when I woke up the next morning my ear was so sore from the freaking things being so heavy and digging into my neck :-\

I decided to try the dead stretch method for 2g to 1g because I was sick of using tapers, and I must say, it was such an easy stretch it didn't even feel like a stretch. It just felt like I was putting in new jewellery.

Anyways, that's my experience with it
