Possible rip??

Ok so 2 days ago i started stretching my ear for the first time. The guy in the shop recommended going straight to a 6g which i now realise isn't a smart idea.

In the process of a day i had pushed the taper through to 6g. Now i have removed it to clean it and it looks like there is a possible tear? I dont know what constitutes as a rip/tear but there was some blood and what i expected to be a hole is nothing more than a closed gap. Am i worrying too much and should i just wait it out or should i abandon the whole process for a while? At the moment i have reduced the taper to about half of what it was is this a good idea?

Any advice is appreciated.

So I'm no expert on this or anything, but it sounds like you're going to need to baby your ears a bit and start from scratch (because blood is not a good sign). The best thing to do would be to take out whatever gauge you have in now and put in the jewelry you originally had before you tried to stretch. Get your ear back to its healthiest state by doing some sea salt soaks and letting whatever damage you've done heal. Then once whatever rip you may have has resolved, start out gradually stretching. I think most normal piercings are about 18g so move up to the next size from there which would be 16g and work your way up SLOWLY...so no skipping sizes. You don't want to do any more damage as you stretch. Just take your time, increase sizes gradually, keep your ears clean and remember to give yourself time to heal between each stretch.

Hope this helps...GOOD LUCK!!! :D

I would put in a some plugs (whatever size your at know) and leave them. Clean them daily an let them heal for about a month, If you stretch again go one size at a time. Try eargauges.net for a listing of all the sizes.

I think you should start over, wait a few months, and go one size at a time. Also, be careful about taking piercers' advice on stretching... a lot of them don't know what they're talking about.
I'm Lindsay.
I have 1/2" lobes and 11 piercings: left helix x2, both conches, both nostrils, septum, navel, and VCH.
My lobes are small but I know a lot about stretching and how to do it safely, so message me if you have any questions!

You give advice like a expert ;)

Best to just start over at the beginning with original jewelry, and act like it was a brand new piercing. Also, punch the piercer in the ear the next time you see them, because that would be fair.
