Just stretched for first time

I've had my ears pierced ever since I was a baby. Since I always used earrings I figured it was safe to stretch to a 14g. I've researched all this for a couple of years. However I bought acrylic tapers and plugs for both 14g and 12g. Since these are still pretty small sizes I wasn't worried about whether or not they metal. However for bigger sizes I was wondering if you used metal plugs for the fresh stretch or just put acrylic in. I've had the 14g acrylic plug in for 3 days and have been cleaning them 2x a day. So what I'm really asking is which do you prefer for larger sizes, acrylic plugs or metal plugs?
Thanks

Re: Just stretched for first time

Acrylic is porous, thus not appropriate for a new stretch. I will admit a bias, since my ears hate acrylic I can't wear it for more than a few hours at a time. So while it's not recommended, there are a minority that never have a problem with acrylic.
