Hi!
I stretched my ears last saturday, and went straight for a 3mm.
It went in, was a bit painful, and had discomfort for 2 days with pain aswell, I took it out and it started bleeding alot.
I cleaned up the blood and put on an antiseptic cream, I took it out to clean it again today, there was no blood, and it doesnt hurt at all and looks really clean.
How long should I wait to go to a 6mm, because someone told me to do it when it doesnt hurt anymore as everyones healing times are different?
Thanks!! x

Re: New to Streatching
start small and work up big. the longer you wait between stretches, the better. if you're looking for a set amount of time to stretch again, wait at least 2-3 weeks between. make sure to massage your ears with jojoba, or vitamin e oils and sea salt soaks. be sure to listen to your body, even if you don't mind the pain- stretching should not be painful, and should not bleed. the more trauma you cause to your ears, the harder it is to reach your desired size in the future. your earlobes will develop scar tissue that becomes very tough. this is why people massage their ears with oils. especially jojoba and vitamin e because they are very close to the kind of oils your body naturally produces.

I actually think the wait between sizes should be longer than 2-3 weeks. Personally, I would wait 4-6 weeks minimum, and more for better results!
And yes, skipping sizes is painful. I suggest to and hope you don't do it again, and instead try to stretch size by size.
Bleeding means tearing, so your ears are going to suffer some scar tissue, no doubt. It's just a matter of reducing it before your next stretch, and that can take a while. As well, your ears may look all right now, but they may not later, sadly. Especially if you keep skipping, your ears will start to look pretty gnarly, and no one wants gnarly ears, right? Remember: You only have on pair of lobes, so treat them well! Don't abuse them by forcing them to stretch and tearing them up, or else you'll have to deal with the consequences.
First lesson.
Second lesson, don't listen to that someone who told you stretch from 3mm to 6mm, please. They are insane and really have no idea what they're talking about, to be blunt.
The next size you should be working towards is 4mm, and nothing more. First thing's first, you need to take care of your ears right now. They'll need some TLC before you can even think about stretching them, and I suggest to put aside a few months for their recovery. Try not to use anything on your ears other than these products:
Sea salt (celtic sea salt, natural sea salt) or kosher salt
Scent-free antibacterial soap (like original Dial, generic brands, or Dr. Bronner's)
Oil (jojoba, emu, vitamin E, castor, naked)
Clean hands
Buy yourself some plugs made from these materials (while your ears heal):
Steel
Titanium
Glass

I also want to say that even when your lobes may not feel pain anymore after a stretch, that doesn't mean they are healed. You can have a cut on your finger and not feel any pain from it, but does that mean it's healed? No; your platelets need time to create a scab to seal off the cut from bacteria and viruses; white cells need time to fight off bacteria that has entered the cut. All of this takes time, just like your lobes need time to heal, even when they feel no pain.
And yes, some people heal differently than others, but altogether, everyone needs to make sure they are waiting the right amount of minimal time for everything to take its course. That's why 4-6 weeks would be considered the general minimum waiting time between stretches. But because your ears tore from jumping to a large size, you might want to consider waiting longer.
Finally, just remember that ear stretching doesn't have to be painful. There are ways to stretch without having to undergo discomfort, no matter what anyone tells you.
