Winter and stretching

Well, I live in Canada, not the coldest part of it but it still gets to minus 20 celsius in December and January (with humidity it can feel like it's minus 40!).

My ears aren't healed up so silicone isn't an option, do I run a risk wearing metal plugs in unhealed ears during the cold of winter? I'm kinda afraid of frostbite, would a really big tuque (beanie) be suitable?

Could you maybe get some glass plugs? They won't freeze like metal does and glass is very suitable for non-healed ears. And yes, a good, warm beanie, wool is best, perhaps with a headband under to pull tight over your ears. Also, remember to keep your ears well moisturised, jojoba oil is really good, because the cold will dry your skin.

I had that happen to me once. I had some metal pinchers in my ear and I was standing outside in the snow waiting for my friends to show up and my ear was like freakin cold by the time they came I was outside for a good 2 hours.

Glass doesn't get as cold as metal, but can still be quite cold. Hollow things are like wind magnets. But earmuffs are my best friends! Mine are fluffy and huge, but you can get smaller not-ridiculous ones.
I don't find hats that good, cause mine are all knitted and still let the wind through. Plus my lobes are pretty low, and its not so comfy to tuck em into a hat

i live in michigan and weve been hittin 0s and lower and what i found works wonders for my lobes is to keep a tube of neosporin in ur pocket at all times and keep em hydrated and itll keep em healed and nice
and i got a hat on the second im outta a warm spot and even stretching in the winter is fine if you keep em healthy by keepin your ears hydrated with oils or lubes or neosporin which also heals and hyrdrates

Im in Michigan too, and I am only at a 6g but what I do is lube up with vitamin e oils before I go out and pull my knit hat down over most of my ear. The lobe is still exposed but it seems to stay pretty warm. I will get ear muffs if this method starts to fail for any reason. I also do not spend a lot of time out doors if I can help it. I hate the cold!

have you heard of ptfe plugs?? they come in single flared, if your ears aren't 100% healed.

That's what I would recommend, teflon or ptfe plugs. It won't really get cold compared to glass or metal. Wearing a hat with some uncool ear flaps is a good idea, and avoid all tunnels, since you don't want wind blowing through them.

I use almost completely metal plugs.
and stretching during the winter season hasn't been a problem for me.
even while doing some 8-10 hour snowboarding runs,
it hasn't been too bad of a problem.
obviously metal gets a bit colder than silicone or glass,
but its nothing unbearable in my opinion.

You probably don't live in a place where the temperature can be minus 30 celsius. (-22 farhenheit)
