Question about double flares

I'm just starting as you can see from my other thread, but I've gone ahead and bought all my tapers, and some jewellery (14 & 12g plugs)... but I also bought 10g double flared tunnels (stainless steel), I liked the look of them and they for my first goal size.
Now I'm wondering if double flare is a good idea, are they easy to insert and take out to clean? I'm kind of scared of getting them in and finding it hard to get out! Or not being able to get them in! :o
The flare is bigger than the size, so how does that work? Please explain. hehe

Re: Question about double flares

Honestly you'll probably have a pretty hard time with them. I had double flares at 8G and never could get them in. Usually the smaller the size, the harder DF are to get in unless you're at that size for aaaages.
I'm Lindsay.
I have 1/2" lobes and 11 piercings: left helix x2, both conches, both nostrils, septum, navel, and VCH.
My lobes are small but I know a lot about stretching and how to do it safely, so message me if you have any questions!

Re: Question about double flares

I agree double flares are so hard to get in , Im at 4 ga and have been since like august and am just not starting to be able to fit double flare in , and its still pretty difficult .. its probably best to go with single flares in a 10 ga .. they look just the same from the front only difference is you have an o ring on back

Oh my yes slow down lol .. you should stay at each size for at least 4-6 weeks ( even if your ears feel fine , they need time to strengthen ) good luck .. I would wait until at least Feb 1st before trying the next size

Re: Question about double flares

Ok I PROMISE, I'll wait.

I posted a pic in the pics section so you can see my ear is still ok! lol

But seriously, I didn't feel a thing.

But I'll wait 4 weeks minimum for the 8g.

My ears didn't even feel pressure or anything, I was expecting some discomfort but not a thing!

I'm still in the smaller sizes but now I will wait longer.

HELP Question about double flares

I also have a question about double flares. I put in a set of acrylic double flares about 8 years ago. They are a 3 gauge on the ends and a 2 gauge in the middle, so I guess my ears are at a 2 gauge and are thinking they are going to be that way forever. How do I get them out? No amount of oil and pulling has worked. My husband has even tried to take them out when I was sleeping to no avail! I would appreciate any help!!!

I meant a 2 on the outside(larger) and a 3 or 4 in the middle(smaller) like an hourglass so they don't slide out. They spin just fine, my ears are healthy and not fused to the acrylic. I keep them clean with soap and water. I want to know what my removal options are....
Can I slide a spacer in between the earing and my ear to stretch them more so the plug will slide out(its been 8 years since they were last stretched) or do they have to be cut out? Is acrylic a material that can be cut? Any advise is great! I would post a pic but don't know how.

what ? you havent taken them out in 8 years ? how do you clean them ? if they are acrylic I would imagine they may have become fused to the tissue... can they spin at all ? is there any kind of gap ? Im really confused about this ... I would say take a hot shower lube them up and just rock them gently out and if they wont budge Id go the the Dr. .. they may have to cut the flares off to get the plug out ... it wasnt stretched or anything but My sister had a stuck ball on a CBR in her belly button and the just cut the ring at the ER and slipped it out .. good luck .. and please let us know what happens , a pic would be good too

Re: Question about double flares

If she forced them 8 years ago, well, she would not be able to remove it even 3 days after. I suppose seeing a Doctor is a good idea.
