Peeling

I have been at 3/4 for about 2 months now, and i have had 2 of these experiences where my ears swell and just peel and itch like crazy, then it stops... now, about 2 or 3 weeks later, it is happening again. Any ideas as to what is going on?

Re: Peeling

You could be having a reaction to the material you're wearing, especially if it's acrylic or silicone. Try getting some glass/titanium plugs, or at the very least steel.
I'm Lindsay.
I have 1/2" lobes and 11 piercings: left helix x2, both conches, both nostrils, septum, navel, and VCH.
My lobes are small but I know a lot about stretching and how to do it safely, so message me if you have any questions!

Re: Peeling

First of all, change your jewelry.

If that doesn't change anything in a few days, follow these instructions (they might sound really, really weird):

There is a chance that you could have a fungal infection in your ear. I know that sounds weird, but you can just about get them anywhere. Likely, the skin will be rough, chronically dry, and peeling for a period of time. Lotrimin A for her is a really gentle cream that I've found works on ANY perpetually itchy and peeling area; it's worked for the eczema that I sometimes get in my anti-lobe. Make sure that when you dry off your ears completely after showers and sleep with a fresh towel on your pillow.

Try the cream, I swear it works and is gentle enough for really any peeling area. I know it's not comparable to emu oil, holey butt'r, or jojoba (all of which are proven to be wonderful for your ears)--but none of those oils, I've found, are able to help enough with peeling and itchy sensations that result from fungal infections, eczema, or even severe allergic reactions.

Re: Peeling

Good idea. I hadn't ever thought of that. I'll sock that one away in case something comes up again with someone else.
