6g stretch fail

Today I thought would be a good day to try and go up to 6g (from 8g of course) but I couldnt get the taper more than half way in so I gave up and am wondering when would be a good time to try again.
I've allready waited a good 6 weeks since getting to an 8, I tried doing a seasalt soak with hot water before I tried hoping to loosen my lobe some since everyone recommends a hot shower I thought this would work equally well if not better. I'm pretty sure I didn't rip my ear any since I only got it half way in and stopped because my ear was resisting. So how long should I wait for my ear to loosen up? A week or two?

That's totally normal; 8G-6G is a pretty big stretch so it usually needs more time. I waited almost three months for that stretch and honestly I still should've waited longer! There's really no set amount of time you should wait, just try it every week or two until you can put the taper in with no pain or resistance. You could also try taping or getting an in-between size (Glasswear Studios does odd-number gauges).

yep me to just like corazon said its a tough one and takes longer sometimes .. one ear took me 3 months one ear 4 months ....
