Your best bet to go up in the small sizes is studs.

Sounds like impatience! First piercings take their sweet time to stop hurting, and most piercers recommend only removing the stud after 6-8 weeks.

In healed stretches, speaking solely from experience, silicone is THE BEST for sleeping and sports. SS, glass and acrylic are absolutely awful for anything where you're running and get knocked about.
