If I got it pierced with a 10g would it still close up like normal?

Would it be bad to pierce my ear lobe using a 10g needle?

I was wondering what the best method of stretching would be. I heard using tapers can cause blowouts and dead stretching will really fuck up your ears. What would you guys recommend?
