I had o rings on both sides to keep the flare from slipping in again and inadvertently created a seal. Not to mention I had them pierced twice with a gun in the same spot before I ever stretched them. It has no elasticity and I can feel the ring of hard tissue ringing the hole. So I believe it it scar tissue.
well if you decide to punch it , you may as well punch the other healthy lobe to otherwise you will end up with one nice plump lobe and the other a bit thinner
you will be able to stretch past the size you punched at BUT you will not be able to stretch as far as you would be able to on the healthy unpunched lobe ...
just weigh the pros and cons carefully before you decide to punch
I have heard of piercing or punching out the scar then not wearing jewelry and let the hole close totally for a good 6 months to a year then re pierce at about 12 or 10 ga and start again slowly is a decent option ( but thats just what I have heard - no proof )
