I have 1 inch gauges and I don't really have the money to go out and buy tapers... I've heard electric tape works, but I've also heard it can fuse with your ear and leak chemicals. I don't really know what to do or think on the subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PTFE Tape is your best bet. I've had friends that have used electrical tape, and they haven't had any problems, but I'm sure that it could cause problems. Also with the tapers, I don't think stores sell above one inch tapers, at least I haven't seen them. You would have to go online and see, and I'm sure they aren't expensive online my friend. :)
