Thickened ear lobes

I'm currently at a 2g and I've noticed since i've started stretching my ear lobes have become increasing thicker in terms of width from the from to the back of the hole. Is this normal and is there anyway to reduce it? I wear internally threaded double flared screw on steel tunnels and the wearable space is very small. It's gotten to the point where i need to insert the screw on piece into the fistula to meet the other end of the jewelery. This discussion isn't about my choice of jewelery but rather is thickening normal and/or solvable?

It's normal and you can't avoid it, it is called ear stretching.

it's quite normal, and in my opinion its better to have too-thick lobes than too-thin ones. i would look into jewelry with more wearable space.
