My ears are both up to a 0g 8mm and the problem is that the skin around my hole has been really dry and flaky, both ears were that way and the left has cleared up using Holey Butt'r but my right is worse now and its all red. it was bleeding earlier. they look worse in real life then they do here  http://www.flickr.com/photos/60321530@N08/5654493096/

It could be a reaction to the silicone. I suggest using glass or surgical implant grade steel or titanium jewellery.

Also if you're cleaning too much, or not enough, it could be causing irritation.

Need more details.

Blood's always bad, so downsizing to something metal or glass would be a good idea, then treat it like a new piercing until it heals.
