Acrylic jewelry

Discuss all things ear stretching

I've always used acrylic tapers to stretch my ears. I know they suck but they're cheap so I use them anyways. I know about the acrylic being porous and harboring bacteria so I was wondering if maybe painting a layer of clear nail polish over the jewelry would help with this issue at all. It seems like it would pretty much fix the whole porous, infection causing problem... then again I could be completely wrong.

I was just telling my friend at work the other day to get some stainless steel tapers, b/c she is using acrylic as well. Don't paint your tapers with nail polish, or at least i wouldn't. Have a look at the ingredients, or call the 1800 # on the bottle and ask them how it reacts to your skin. Just buy some new tapers.. 6 bucks!

Ah, I know. It just seems like such a waste since I already have 0 and 00 acrylic tapers. Giving the company a call might be a good idea though, thanks.

Acrylic may be porous but I believe it is OK to use if you have metal or glass jewelry to put in after on a freshly stretched ear. Acrylic should not be worn for long periods of time, especially with a fresh stretch
